Publications
The plan behind the formation of the Institute was not only to organize international conferences but also to develop a book publication series. In 1989, an Editorial Board was set up consisting of:
George Psathas, Boston University (Chair)
Jorg Bergmann, University of Konstanz
Egon Bittner, Brandeis University
Graham Button, Xerox Europarc
Jeff Coulter, Boston University
Michael Lynch, Cornell University
James Heap, University of Ohio
D.R. Watson, University of Manchester
This series was launched with a co-publishing arrangement with the University Press of America and resulted in five books:
- G. Psathas (ed.), Interaction Competence (1990)
- E.C. Cuff, Problems of Versions in Everyday Situations (1994)
- P.Ten Have and G. Psathas (eds.), Situated Order: Studies in the Social Organization of Talk and Embodied Activities (1995)
- S. Hester and P. Eglin (eds.) Culture in Action: Studies in Membership Categorization Analysis (1997)
- P.L. Jalbert (ed.), Media Studies: Ethnomethodological Approaches (1998)
Many of the papers in these edited collections draw from presentations made at IIEMCA conferences.
